Milford hosts Jays in opener

A county clash opened the season for the Milford volleyball team when the Eagles hosted Seward Aug. 29. The teams battled back and forth before the Jays prevailed 18-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-20.

“Overall there were a lot of great things from this match. We came out on fire, and Seward made some great adjustments,” Milford coach Emily Restau said.

Freshman Shayla Rautenberg led the MHS offense with 12 kills. Kylie Jakub put up 33 set assists.

“I was super proud of the efforts throughout the game. This early competitive match will make us better in the long run as we will learn a lot,” Restau said.

The Eagles (0-1) have one match this week on the road at Standing Bear Sept. 3. Milford’s next match is Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Fillmore Central.
