The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Post 4755 in Seward, is asking the public to wear a blue teardrop pin or sticker during September to bring awareness to veterans and military suicide. The auxiliary describes the teardrop as a “symbol that we can use to open a conversation to give this issue the attention so desperately needed.”
Fred Ohles, a puzzle designer for the Lincoln Journal Star and other publications, will talk about how he designs puzzles and offer tips for solving them. The program will be Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m. at Chapters Books and Gifts in Seward.

The Seward Farmers Market will be open Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 5-7 p.m. at the Seward County Fairgrounds. The hamburger stand will be hosted by the Seward United Methodist Church Godparent Group.
The next regular meeting of the Seward Good Life Car Club will be Thursday, Sept. 19, at SpareTime pavilion in Seward at 6:30 p.m. (note the time change). Car enthusiasts are always welcome.
The Seward Fourth of July Community Celebration monthly meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Nebraska National Guard Museum in Seward. The meeting is open to all volunteers interested in organizing and planning Seward’s July 4th celebration. Concordia University will have a no-longer-needed furniture and random stuff sale on Friday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. The sale will be in the lower level of Jesse Hall in the center of campus. Half of the proceeds will go to support Concordia students going on mission outreach trips this coming year.
