Weather permitting, on June 28, the downtown phase of construction from US-34 north to Bradford Street will be open to traffic normal two-lane two-way traffic. Eastbound and westbound traffic on US-34 will also be open to normal 4-lane two-way traffic. Both N-15 and US-34 will remain open to traffic through July 7.
Beginning on July 8, the southbound lane of N-15 will be closed from US-34 to Pinewood Avenue with southbound only traffic being maintained in the northbound lane. Northbound traffic will be detoured using US-34, 2nd Street and Pinewood Ave. Trucks will be detoured using the truck route N-66, N-79 and US-34.
This phase of construction is expected to be complete prior to Oct. 1.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, put phones down and pay attention to construction and detour signs.

The Malcolm Legion seniors defeated Hauptman O'Brien 13-2 June 23 behind a 4-RBI performance by Mason Wisnieski, who doubled twice. Luke Schmidt, Carson Frank, Loan McGreer and Hayden Frank had two hits each, as well.
The Milford Post 171 Legion juniors picked up a 9-1 win over Wilber June 22 but lost to Marysville (Kansas) 17-2 and Post 1919 17-1 in the wood bat tournament at Hebron. Zach Parra doubled in the win over Wilber.

Seward Memorial Library will offer a workshop exploring the world of sound on Tuesday, June 25, at 1 p.m. Kids ages K-5 will listen to a variety of styles of music and sounds and measure decibel levels. They will investigate how sound is made by creating noise putty and different ways of making music. No registration or limit is required.
The funeral service for Shirley Liesener will be Monday, June 24, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Committal will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Volzke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
