Dogs are part of the culture in several area businesses.
Are you at a pet shop? The vet? An animal shelter? Nope, you are visiting a book store getting presents for your loved ones, or a spa looking to relax, or maybe even meeting with your attorney.

On a hot summer day, the Seward pool always seems to be the place to be, but the waterslide, the diving board and a chance to cool off in the water are not the only reason why people stop by.

EVENTS

TODAY - Music adventure week: making instruments

Children will have a chance to create their own musical instruments at the Seward Memorial Library on Wednesday, June 26, at 1 p.m. Kids ages K+ will have the opportunity to make a drum or a shaker. They will explore creating, performing and listening to music in a variety of ways.

TODAY - Farmers market open for business

The Seward Farmers Market will be open this afternoon from 5-7 p.m. at the Seward County Fairgrounds, east of the horseshoe pits. Tonight's hamburger stand is hosted by the Firecracker Dance Group. Among the items now ready are rhubarb, lettuce, peas, beets and mulberries.

TOMORROW - String Beans

The String Beans will perform at the Seward Memorial Library on Thursday, June 27, at 6:30 p.m. From rockin’ rhythms to folk-infused favorites, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

TOMORROW - Weather information

Channel 10/11 meteorologists will be at the Milford Senior Center on Thursday, June 27, at 10 a.m. to share fun weather facts, historical information and what it’s like in the day in the life of a meteorologist.

TO JULY 29 - Peaches, pears available for order

The Utica Lions are offering peaches and pears for sale. Peaches will be sold at 20 pounds for $52 or 10 pounds for $28. Pears are available at 20 pounds for $40 or 10 pounds for $22. To order, contact a Utica Lions Club member or call (402) 641-5537, (402) 643-1150 or (402) 641-1122 before Saturday, July 29.

THROUGH JULY - Oregon Trail Escape Room

During June and July, embark on the adventure of a lifetime with your wagon train in our Oregon Trail Escape Room at the Seward Memorial Library. Participants must RSVP and sign up has begun. Time slots vary so call or come by the library to register. It is recommended that children 9 and under have an adult with them, but all ages are welcome.

The Seward Post 33 ZKE Storage juniors shut out Beatrice 8-0 June 25. Kayson Salyer pitched all five innings and struck out six. Kolton Green and Tyler Hammond were each 2-3 with two RBIs for Seward. Kyle Riley also drove in two.

The Seward Post 33 ZKE Storage seniors allowed four runs before getting on the scoreboard and couldn't beat Beatrice June 25, falling 4-2. Cale Gardiner and Carter Ernesti drove in runs for Seward.
